Samsung took the mobile industry by a storm when it unveiled the Galaxy Fold last year. As its moniker suggests, the Galaxy Fold shipped with a foldable form factor, allowing buyers to prop the smartphone as a tablet with the push of a hinge. Fast forward a couple of months and the company has announced the Galaxy Z Flip, a brand-new foldable smartphone at its Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event. The smartphone will be available on February 14th and it carries an MRP of $1,380.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip ships a 6.7-inch Infinity Flex display backed by AMOLED technology. The display features a tiny cutout at the centre for a punch-hole notch and offers minimal bezels along the border of the screen. When folded, buyers will be able to access the 1.1-inch Super AMOLED display placed adjacent to the smartphone’s camera module. The handset weighs 183g, and is 15.4mm thick when folded. As for the cameras, the device features a dual-camera setup towards the back, comprising a 12MP standard shooter and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with F/1.8 and F/2.2 aperture respectively. The smartphone can shoot videos in HDR 10+ aswell.
Driving the smarts on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is an undisclosed 7nm, 64-bit octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 2.95Ghz. The device comes with eight gigs of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. In the battery department, the device features a 3,300mAh battery. The Z Flip offers fast wired charging and is compliant with QC 2.0, however, buyers can also opt to charge the smartphone wirelessly. The smartphone boots Android 10 with a custom skin on top. The company has fine-tuned the software onboard the Galaxy Z Flip to offer buyers an uncompromised hands-free selfie and vlogging experience.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will be available in three hues, namely Mirror Purple, Mirror Black, and Mirror Gold. The company is expected to unveil the Galaxy S20 series next, along with the all-new Galaxy Buds Plus. Stay tuned to our blog for more updates.
