February was already a smartphone fest because of MWC 2018. However, it turns out March will be at least as exciting as MWC if you take a look at the list of smartphones launching this month. A number of big guns from the Chinese industry like Huawei, Xiaomi, and the like are set to release their key products in around two weeks time. We gathered a list of all the major launches happening in March 2018.
Huawei P20 series
The Huawei P20 in this list needs the least mention mainly because of the avalanche of leaks that have been pouring in. Pretty much all design and a lot of specs are almost confirmed. Huawei has joined in on the action as well. Huawei will introduce three new handsets on March 27. Amongst the three, the Huawei P20 Pro is the most anticipated of all. The first triple camera of the Pro variant has managed to grab headlines across the smartphone industry. The Huawei P20 Pro will share many specs and features with its smaller brother, the P20. Both the handsets will come with the latest Kirin 970 CPU, 4GB of RAM, similar notch design.
The Huawei P20 Lite will sport watered down specs compared to its bigger brothers. For more info, check out our coverage of the series.
Further, the Huawei P20 Lite will be launching in the guise of the Huawei Nova 3e in China on March 20.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s
Xiaomi is unexpectedly refreshing its Mix series in just six months. The Mi Mix released in September. Hence, when we heard rumours of a Mi Mix 2s launch we were sceptical. Now that the company itself has confirmed the 27 March launch date of the handset, we are very pumped.
Leaks of the Mi Mix 2s have painted a conflicting picture of the bezel-less handset. Some leaks point to a unique miniature notch that resides on the top right of the display. The notch is home to the selfie shooter which frees the Mi Mix 2s from the clutches of the bottom bezel. Yet other leaked images show a design which is mostly an evolution of the Mix series. The Mi Mix 2s inherits all its looks from its predecessor but appears to have thinner bottom bezels. The Mi Mix 2s is confirmed to feature a Snapdragon 845, wireless charging, dual cameras and a narrow bezel design.
Oppo R15 Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition
There are no launch dates regarding the Oppo R15, which will succeed the Oppo R11s. But the handset has passed TENAA along with an R15 Dream Mirror Edition handset. Going by the way Oppo has been teasing the phone, it could launch any day now. For more specs and design details, you can visit this link here.
Oppo F7 launches on March 26
The Oppo F7 is now confirmed to launch on March 26. Speculation is rife that the handset will feature a 24MP selfie camera as a marquee feature. The handset will also borrow much of its design from the Oppo R15, teasers suggest. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Oppo rebranded the R15 as the Oppo F7 with some minimal hardware changes. As for the Dream Mirror Edition, it comes with a more potent processor and camera.
The Vivo V9, which is the successor of the Vivo V7, will be official on March 27 in India. We say, ‘will be official’ because much is known about the device. Specs, renders, pricing, you name it. The Vivo V9 is an open secret. The handset seems to be a very powerful mid-range contender with a Snapdragon 660 chip and Android 8.0 Oreo running right from the start.
The Vivo X21 is the second handset that will feature the interesting in-display fingerprint sensor from Vivo. It will shortly debut on March 19 in China. Not much is known about the device. But it will feature upper mid-range specs looking at its predecessor, the Vivo X20.
The Meizu E3 is a handset that will go toe to toe with the Redmi Note 5 (Pro) in China. It sports specs similar to its competitor like the Snapdragon 636, 6GB of RAM, and a 5.99-inch display. In case you want to take a look, we have reported the specs of the handset earlier.
This is another Redmi Note 5 rival set to launch on March 20. Lenovo’s VP has teased the features of the handset which includes AI, Face Unlock, ZUI, and a lot more. The Lenovo S5 will also be resurrection of the ZUK brand as it launches in a few days.
