Lei Jun (CEO of Xiaomi) confirms that the next smartphone released by Xiaomi will be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. Though the CEO did not mention as to which mobile phone will feature the Snapdragon but we anticipate that it could be the Mi 7. If you remember a couple of months ago we heard rumours that Xiaomi and Qualcomm have made a collaboration. This was in regards to the optimization and performance of the Snapdragon 845 on the Xiaomi Mi 7.
On the first day of the ongoing Snapdragon Tech Summit which is currently taking place in Hawaii, he officially announced the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform.
Recent rumours suggest that the Mi 7 will have a 6.01-inch display and it could be the company’s first smartphone with wireless charging. It will have the same battery capacity as that of Mi 6 which is 3,350 mAh.
Although Samsung is also in the race to launch its Galaxy S9 and S9+ in 2018 with the Snapdragon 845 processor. If Xiaomi considers launching Mi 7 with the processor it could be the first mobile phone with the Snapdragon 845 to be launched in China. It would be interesting to watch whether Xiaomi wins the race or Samsung.
