Despite lackluster sales, Sony hasn’t yet given up on its smartphone business. The company marked its presence at IFA 2019 with the launch of its latest smartphone, the Sony Xperia 5. The Xperia 5 comes equipped with a 6.1-inch full-HD+ (1080×2520 pixels) OLED display with 21:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and 10-bit color gradation. Under the hood, you get the Snapdragon 855 SoC with the integrated X24 LTE Modem, paired with 6GB RAM. As for storage, the device comes with 128GB of internal storage with support for microSD card (up to 512GB). The device is juiced up by a 3,140mAh battery.
In terms of cameras, the Xperia 5 features a triple rear camera setup with three 12-megapixel cameras (26mm, 16mm, 52mm) with super wide-angle sensor and 2x optical zoom. The device comes with dedicated camera features, such as 4K HDR movie recording, RAW Noise Reduction, 5x digital zoom, HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography, Hybrid autofocus, 3D Creator, and Bokeh effect. For selfies, users can make use of the 8MP selfie shooter upfront.
Sony Xperia 5 price and availability
As of now, the price of the Sony Xperia 5 hasn’t been unveiled. The phone will be available in Black, Red, Blue, and Grey color options, and pre-orders will begin next week in select markets across Europe. The device is expected to be available starting in October 2019.
