Sony has launched its Xperia XZ1 for Indian markets yesterday in New Delhi. The device was announced back at IFA 2017 held in Berlin along with Xperia XZ1 Compact and XA1 Plus. Sony has already launched the Xperia XA1 Plus on September 21 in India.
Xperia XA1 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory with microSD support of up to 256GB. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat and packs in 3430 mAh battery with QuickCharge 2.0+. It sports a 23MP f/2.0 rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera. It can be purchased from offline stores at a price of Rs. 24,990 and is available in Black, Blue and Gold colors.
Xperia XZ1 Specs and Features
Coming back to the Xperia XZ1, it features a unibody metal design, measuring 148x73x7.4mm and weighs 156 grams. Sony kept the same design language from its previous flagships, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but we have been seeing the same design from Sony for ages. Also, with a huge chin and forehead, the device looks a little too blocky. At least, they’ve made good use of the bezels this time. It sports dual front-firing stereo speakers which Sony claims to be the most powerful Xperia speakers they ever made. The device is equipped with S-Force Front Surround technology and various other enhancements to improve the overall audio experience. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack too.
Xperia XZ1 has a 5.2-inch Full HD Triluminous LCD display with support for HDR and is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The device comes with IP65/68 certification for water and dust resistance. As usual, the fingerprint scanner is embedded on the power button, which is situated on the right side of the body along with volume rocker and a dedicated camera shutter button. The rear 19MP (1/ 2.3”, f/2.0, 1.22µm pixel-size) Motion Eye camera is the USP of this device. This camera has 5-axis stabilization (up to 1080p 30fps), manual shooting mode, supports video recording up to 4K and can shoot slow-motion videos at a whopping 960fps. Another unique feature is “3D Creator”, using which we can scan any objects using the camera, turn it into a high-resolution 3D avatar and even 3D print it. The front 13MP (1/3.06”, f/2.0) sensor handles the selfie duties very well.
Under the hood, Xperia XZ1 features an octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal memory with microSD expansion up to 256GB. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, which makes it the first device to come with Android Oreo out of the box. The device is powered by a 2700mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0 and Qnovo Adaptive Charging over USB Type-C. It also has all necessary connectivity options including NFC.
