Swiggy and Zomato struggling to serve customers during lockdown

Amidst the state of lockdown in the entire country, food delivery apps like Swiggy and Zomato are having a hard time. The biggest challenge right now for these delivery platforms is the unavailability of delivery boys. Infact the entire cloud kitchen machinery has become haywire due to the lockdown. A lot of restaurants have also closed due to the announcement. It’s not a good time for all the food lovers as almost every eating joint is unserviceable. 

Even when the outlets decide to open up, the delivery boys are stopped by the local authorities. A Zomato spokesperson has said that “Our delivery partners are facing several hurdles across cities while trying to deliver food which has been classified as an essential service. We are communicating with the relevant authorities and hoping these issues are sorted soon.”The CEO of Zomato Deepinder Goyal has assured every foodie that the company is actively working with the local authorities. They are trying to ensure that atleast the essential services are allowed to operate. 

Swiggy, on the other hand, has said that they haven’t faced too much of an impact after the lockdown. The company has faced just a couple of issues especially when there’s a shortage of supply. A spokesperson from Swiggy has said that “We are working with local governments to remain operational and extend our support during these testing times, especially to the customers in need.”
