
Vivo Y51 is the new mid-range smartphone from the company launched in India. It comes as the successor to the Vivo Y50 smartphone introduced early this year. While both phones feature the same Snapdragon chipset at the core, they differ in certain aspects like design, cameras, and more.

Vivo Y51 — Design and Display
Vivo Y51 features a sleek design (8.38mm in thickness) and sports a dewdrop Full HD+ display which measures 6.58-inches. It is an LCD display that encloses in a 3D colour gradient and matte finish. It comes in two colour variants — Titanium Sapphire and Crystal Symphony.
Vivo Y51 also opts for a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a shift from the rear, with Y50 in comparison. The fingerprint sensor here promises to unlock the phone in a mere 0.248 seconds. Also, there’s Face Unlock feature, for authentication.

On the inside, the Snapdragon 665 SoC powers Vivo Y51, which is an octa-core processor with clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz. For graphics, the chipset accompanies an Adreno 610 GPU. For additional optimization, the Y51 features Multi-Turbo 3.0, which promises to reduce lag during gameplay and handle the smoother multitasking of apps. The phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage (additionally supports up to 1TB through microSD). It ships with the latest Android 11 based Funtouch OS 11.
The Vivo Y51 equips triple rear cameras with 48MP f/1.79 acting as the primary sensor. There’s 8MP f2.2 super wide-angle camera and a 2MP f/2.4 super macro camera. The dewdrop notch on the front carries a 16MP f/2.0 selfie shooter. The camera supports many modes, including super night mode, time-lapse, ultra-stable video, Pro mode, Live photo and more.

The Y51 draws power from a bigger 5000mAh battery that charges through USB Type-C. The battery capacity additionally supports Vivo’s 18W Fast Charge Technology.
Lastly, the other highlights of the device include an audio booster that promises better audio experience while listening to music or watching a video. It features Dual SIM slots along with a microSD slot. The device further supports Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth 5.0.

The Vivo Y51 retails at Rs 17,990 in the Indian market. Again, it comes in a single storage option, i.e. 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage with microSD expansion. The phone is available for sale through Vivo E-store, Amazon, Flipkart and other prominent offline and online stores.
