WhatsApp is one of the most highly used instant messengers in India. It is also where fake news and spam messages run rampant without any restriction measures. But recently, there are steps being taken in that direction. A new feature targeted at spam messages was found to be in the works in a beta build of Android.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will show a “Forwarded Message” label on a post that has just been forwarded from somewhere. It isn’t yet known if the same will happen for copy-pasting a message. The feature was found in update v2.18.67 but isn’t active by default. Apart from that, the Stickers feature is also now on that beta version. And it’s about time too.

Today, WhatsApp has modified the behaviour of the feature, that will show on the bubble (when the feature will be enabled in future), a ‘Forwarded Message’ string, if the message has been forwarded from another chat (or from the same chat),” read the information on the website.

The biggest update on WhatsApp recently was the UPI payments feature. However, it is not in the stable build currently. The feature allows two UPI users to instantly receive and send payments via WhatsApp. Some more minor features that have been recently added include a Group Description feature.
