WhatsApp is shutting its operations on some of the devices from December 31 and if you are using any of these, it is necessary for you to buy a new phone! The Facebook-owned instant messaging app will not support devices which run BlackBerry Operating System, BlackBerry 10, and Windows 8.0. The news has been published by express.co.uk and comes as a serious issue for users who have devices running on these platforms.
WhatsApp has officially confirmed the news by saying,“We will no longer actively develop for these platforms, some features may stop functioning at any time. These platforms don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer OS version, or to a newer Android running OS 4.0+, iPhone running iOS 7+, or Windows Phone 8.1+ so that you can continue using WhatsApp.”
WhatsApp has also confirmed that it will stop working on Nokia S40 at the end of 2018 and will freeze its operations on Android OS version 2.3.7 from February 2020!
Are you using a device with such OS versions? What do you think of this decision by WhatsApp? Let us know in the comments section below!
