Gaming phones became a thing since Razer introduced a gaming-centric Razer Phone last year. Now, it seems Xiaomi is keen to follow it up with its own gaming device. A new handset codenamed ‘Blackshark’ was spotted on AnTuTu last month attributed to Xiaomi. Blackshark is a new sub-brand of Xiaomi and it seems the handset will launch under that brand.
Once again, the same device has appeared on Geekbench with model number Blackshark SKR-A0. As per the benchmarks, the upcoming phone will boast the Snapdragon 845 SoC. As per the listing, the processor is clocked at a base frequency of 1.77GHz. It has 8GB of RAM and runs on Android 8.0 which will obviously be topped with MIUI. These specifications largely concur to the AnTuTu listing and hence confirm the authenticity of the leak.
As for the scores on Geekbench, Blackshark scored a promising 2422 in single-core and 8351 in multi-core tests.
As for rumours, there are rumblings of a new aviation-class cooling system to maintain temperatures. AnTuTu reported a Full-HD+ screen and a 32GB storage but we could see more storage options. We’re yet to see any official signs of the launch of the phone or even the leaked design of the handset. Not to mention the features that particularly cater to gaming like a better Frame refresh rate on the Razer Phone. However, we’re bound to see more in the coming months.
