A new Xiaomi device codenamed Dipper has been spotted on Geekbench yesterday fueling rumour of a flagship Mi 7 smartphone. What fans the rumours are the schematics that were found on the benchmarking platform. Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2s is already well-known by the code-name Polaris, so that leaves just the Mi 7 with such specs to take its place on the rumour radar. So, what does the Geekbench test reveal?
Mostly, Geekbench reveals the processor details, RAM info, and Android version. Xiaomi Dipper features a Snapdragon 845 SoC, 6GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo, as per info. Obviously, the Snapdragon 845 is a CPU that we’ll see only on flagship Xiaomi phones. Since we know that Dipper is not the Mi Mix 2s, the logical conclusion is that it is the Mi 7.
The codename Dipper makes sense for the Mi 7 because Xiaomi names the Mi series after constellations. Both the Mi 6 and Mi 5S Plus were named Sagit and Natrium respectively.
As for the Mi 7 images, leaks have been few and far in between. However, it is expected to house an OLED display along with a glass build for wireless charging. If you’re not happy, maybe rumours of a notch on the Mi 7 will make your day.
Xiaomi’s Mi 6 launched in April, last year. And there are just weeks left for April 2018 to commence. So, we think that there should be movements on the rumour radar soon regarding the handset.
