Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro with on-screen fingerprint sensor announced in China for Rs 34,000 approx.

It’s September 19th and Xiaomi has announced the Mi 8 Pro in China as promised. The handset is a hybrid of the previous two Mi 8 models launched as it has the best of both worlds. The on-screen fingerprint reader of the Explorer Edition along with the full specs of the Mi 8 makes this new device a powerful combination of hardware and beautiful design. It is priced RMB 3,199 (~ Rs 34,000) in China for the base model and goes up to RMB 3,599 (~ Rs 38,000) for the high-end variant.

Quickly overviewing the spec-sheet, the Mi 8 Pro features a 6.21-inch Super AMOLED display just like the Mi 8 and it has 1080p resolution with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio due to the notch. The processor is the same as the other two models – the Snapdragon 845 SoC with the base variant having 6GB of RAM and the top-end model featuring 8GB of RAM. Storage is 128GB.

In the photography segment, the Mi 8 Pro has the Mi 8’s 12MP+12MP (telephoto) lens pairing while the front sensor is a 20MP shooter with IR Face Unlock.

It has a 3,400mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+ support and 4G VoLTE, NFC, USB Type-C. In terms of software, the Mi 8 Fingerprint Edition runs Android Oreo with MIUI 10 out-of-the-box. It will be available in transparent back and gradient Twilight Gold flavours.
