Xiaomi at an event in China has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone offering to the world. Initially, it would be available in its homeland and then would roll out to other countries when the company is officially present. Dubbed as Mi 9, it is the successor to last year’s Mi 8, launched with latest high-end specifications. Let’s talk about the specifications of the Mi 9 below in detail.
Mi 9 specifications
The handset has been announced with triple rear camera setup, where the primary lens is of 48MP resolution. It uses pixel binning technology (4-in-1) to stitch the four 12MP images into a 48MP resolution capture. Further, the secondary lens would of the 16MP lens, which will be an ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture. The third lens in the triple rear camera setup would be a 12MP telephoto lens, which will offer a 2X optical zoom. Protected by sapphire glass, this triple rear camera setup is put in a vertical manner.
Sporting a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ resolution display, the company teases the 90.7% screen to body ratio of the phone with minimum bezels on all sides. It is said to be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. It will be a Samsung panel with full-HD+ resolution. The Mi 9 will be retailing in China in three colour variants, lavender violet, ocean blue, and piano black.
As far as the biometric security is concerned, it will be sporting a new generation in-display fingerprint sensor, plus an all-new Face ID tech for better facial recognition and security. The 20MP selfie camera would be used for AI face unlocking. The connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.0v, NFC, 4G VoLTE, type-C port, and GPS. Although, the highlight of the connectivity features is that it would be 5G ready.
All this would be powered by a 3300mAh capacity battery, and as expect a 27W fast charging support. It is quite good to see Xiaomi up its game when it comes to wireless charging technology. The Mi 9 can now be charged wirelessly with a 20W wireless charging tech support.
Mi 9 Explorer Edition
It isn’t surprising to see the Mi 9 Explorer Edition make its official appearance as the brand has been teasing it for a while. The Mi 9 Explorer Edition is the special Battle Angel edition that has been offered in partnership with Alita Battle Angel movie by James Cameron.
The primary difference between the Mi 9 and this special edition is the transparent back with 12GB of RAM. The smartphone maker has introduced a game turbo technology, which is said to boost the gaming performance on the Mi 9 on top of the latest Snapdragon processor.
Mi 9 Pricing
Interestingly, the pricing of the Mi 9 in China would be 2999 yuan, which converts to Rs 31,000 approximately. Now that’s some pricing for a Snapdragon 855 SoC powered smartphone. It will be a 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage, whereas the Mi 9 Explorer Edition will retail at 3999 Yuan (approximately Rs 42,000). It will have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
