Xiaomi will produce Mi LED TVs in India locally, to manufacture 100,000 units per month by Q1 2019

Xiaomi, the budget smartphone king of India is now planning to manufacture Mi TVs locally as well. The smart television range by the company received a huge welcome from the customers in the country at the time of their launch. Adding to the “Make in India” campaign, Xiaomi has partnered with Dixon Technologies to manufacture the Mi LED TV range in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

The plant set by Xiaomi and Dixon Technologies will offer employment opportunities to 850 people. It will also have a production capacity of 100,000 Mi LED TVs per month by Q1 2019. The plant will start local assembly with Mi LED Smart TV 4A 80cm (32-inch) and Mi LED Smart TV 4A 180cm (43-inch) for now. Recently, IDC declared Mi LED TV as the number one Smart TV Brand in India, as per Worldwide Quarterly Smart Home Device Tracker, 2018 Q2.

In 2015, Xiaomi announced its plan of manufacturing smartphones within India. Today, Xiaomi has six smartphone manufacturing plants in India in partnership with Foxconn and Hipad Technologies across Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu and Noida, Uttar Pradesh and its first power bank plant (in partnership with Hipad Technologies). Currently, over 95 per cent of Xiaomi smartphones sold in the country are manufactured locally which decreases their cost and helps in providing a better service to the customers.

Manu Jain Gupta, the VP of Xiaomi commented, “Xiaomi’s tremendous success in India has been primarily contributed to our commitment in India and we are proud to take the next step with the support of the state of Andhra Pradesh. After a successful smartphone journey, we are beginning a new chapter with Mi LED TV manufacturing in India. We are already the number one Smart TV brand in India, and we hope that with our increased focus on local manufacturing, we would be able to increase our supply and ensure we can reach out to many more Mi Fans.”

Further, the Executive Chairman of Dixon Technologies mentioned, “We would like to congratulate Xiaomi for their innovations and making a mark for themselves in the technological world whilst keeping the affordability intact.
