Xiaomi has just announced the Mi Mix 3 in China, which brings forth a new era of bezel-less smartphones. Taking tips from Oppo and Vivo, Xiaomi has used a slider module to improve upon the bezel-less display design. However, their implementation is one of the better ones out there.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 boasts of a 6.39-inch AMOLED Full-HD display with a 93.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. Xiaomi has pushed the earpiece to the top border of the display, while the front camera sensors have been placed on the slider module.
Speaking about the cameras itself, the Mi Mix 3 is the first smartphone from the company to feature a quad camera setup, with dual sensors on either side. On the back, you’ll find a 12MP f/1.8 + 12MP f/2.4 telephoto dual lens combo, which has already managed to attain a score of 103 on DxOMark. Thanks to the higher aperture, the company claims that the device should offer great low-light photography. The company also claims that the camera now supports slow-motion video recording at 960fps.
As for the front cameras, the Mi Mix 3 packs in a 24MP+2MP dual-camera for selfie lovers. These cameras are hidden under the slider. The company has also introduced a total of six different AI modes for the front shooter. These include AI Beauty, AI Face Unlock, and more.
In terms of performance, the Mi Mix 3 is no slouch either. The flagship device from the company comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. As for the RAM, it comes with at least 6GB of RAM and goes all the way up to 10GB of RAM. Thanks to the glass back, there is support for wireless charging up to 10W.
The device will be offered in three color variants, namely Onyx Black, Jade Green, and Sapphire Blue. The Mi Mix 3 will retail at 3,299 yuan (~Rs. 35,000) for the base variant with a 6GB+128GB, 3,599 yuan (~Rs. 38,000) for the 8GB/128GB variant, and 3,999 yuan (~Rs. 42,000 ) for the 8GB/256GB model. Also, all the variants will ship with a 10W wireless charger as well.
Lastly, Xiaomi is also offering a Forbidden City Special Edition model, which comes equipped with the humongous 10GB of RAM along with 256GB internal storage. The special edition device will retail for 4,999 yuan (~Rs. 52,000), and will also offer its users with 10GB of monthly data for three years. However, the associated carriers haven’t yet been named. As of now, there is no word on the International availability of the Mi Mix 3.
