Xiaomi’s newly spun-off subsidiary POCO, just announced this morning that the Poco F1 which is the first offering from the brand will be announced on August 22 in New Delhi. However, Pocophone will have a global presence as well and someone outside of India has probably got hold of a unit. Not only that, there’s a full unboxing of the device currently live on this someone’s YouTube channel. We will leave a link to it below. Be sure to watch it as soon as you can because it might just be taken offline.
From the unboxing video, we’ve managed to gather the crux of the matter. We now have a detail on the vital components of the phone. As per the video, the Pocophone F1 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, this is the less intriguing part. We’ve heard a word about an 8GB model as well. This particular unit has a 4,000mAh battery which lights up the 5.99-inch Full-HD+ panel that comes with a notch.
The rear has dual cameras – 12MP + 5MP and there are AI features as well as 4K video options available. The first boot of the phone clearly showed MIUI running on it and according to the channel, it is MIUI 9. There are dual SIM capability and micro SD card option as well on the new flagship. The handset comes with USB Type-C and it does have a 3.5mm headphone jack thankfully.
From what we’ve heard, this Poco F1 will be a sub $500 phone. Speculation is rife that Xiaomi has conceived the brand simply to enter the US market. All those theories aside, the design of the phone is very simplistic. The rear comes with a matte finish which attracts much fewer fingerprints but isn’t as good looking as the gloss version. The Pocophone F1 launches in India on August 22.
