Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 to Feature an 18:9 Display and Dual Rear Cameras?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has been the best selling smartphone in its segment, at least in India. Now that the Redmi Note 4 is almost one year old, it is time for Xiaomi to announce its successor-  Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. We have already started seeing leaks and rumors regarding the device. A few weeks ago, a Weibo post has revealed most of the specifications of Redmi Note 5. You can check it out here. Today, we have finally received a hands-on image of what appears to be the Redmi Note 5 via Slashleaks. The image was originally posted by a Weibo user.

Taking a look at the first photo, it is pretty evident that the device sports a metal unibody design, with two antenna lines running horizontally at the top and the bottom. The back portion of the device looks similar to that of the Redmi Note 4, but now with a dual camera setup. The specifications which leaked earlier also hinted the presence of a dual camera setup at the back – 16MP + 5MP. The fingerprint scanner is also placed at the back, below the dual camera setup and the LED flash.

The second photo shows the front portion of the device, which features an 18:9 display with minimal bezels. Earlier leaks point towards a 5.5-inch display, but the device shown in these images appears to have larger screen size. The top bezel looks a little bit thicker than the bottom one, as it houses the sensors and front-facing camera along with the earpiece. The back portion also resembles last years Redmi Pro, which had the LED flash placed between two cameras and fingerprint sensor at the front. So, it is not sure whether this would be the Redmi Note 5 itself or some other Redmi device.

As of now, there is no official confirmation from Xiaomi’s part, so take the information with a pinch of salt.
