Lenovo’s sub-brand ZUK was known for making affordable flagship phones with all the trending features. The sub-brand stopped manufacturing phones a few years ago. However, rumours have been flowing all over about its comeback in the smartphone market.
Today, a new image has been spotted on Weibo and it shows a revolutionary transparent back panel on a phone. The device is speculated to be an offering by ZUK as it is making a comeback in April. The phone in this image has a textured and transparent back with a single rear camera.
In the absence of a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, we can safely assume that the home button on the phone will act as one. Recently Chang Cheng, the CEO of ZUK, posted a picture of a phone with Lenovo’s branding. But the phone in that image had a metallic rear panel, unlike the one that we have here.
You must note that the phone with the transparent back might just be a prototype and not the actual (complete) design.
Chang Cheng is also the Vice-President of Lenovo and he sifted to the MBG (Mobile Business Group) China just a few days ago. Product organization, research and development will be led by him and people are guessing that all this is being done for the return of ZUK smartphones.
The phone in the image looks quite different than what we are used to seeing. If ZUK is actually planning to release this phone, it could be a game-changer in the world of smartphones.
